TriStar NorthCrest Medical Center recently announced new expansions to provide advanced women’s services in obstetrics, gynecology, and breast cancer screening, as part of a continuing effort to invest in the healthcare needs of Robertson County. Starting in April, the hospital will have a 24/7 midwife program, allowing women in the community to receive obstetrical care closer to home. The hospital is also expanding surgical capabilities with non-invasive robotic surgery for gynecological procedures. 3D mammography will also be available to patients to better screen for breast cancer.
Hendersonville Public Library Director Allan Morales is now fired as Sumner County officials deal with threats of violence at the facility. Library board members voted to terminate Morales yesterday, effective immediately. Sumner County Mayor John Isbell says the library mishandled a recent situation with a children’s story hour that featured Christian actor Kirk Cameron and other conservative personalities. Cameron’s publishing company told Fox News the library attempted to cancel the event. Police are still investigating a bomb threat that was emailed to employees at the property on Tuesday.
First responders in Middle Tennessee are training for emergencies involving electric vehicles. Experts with General Motors held information sessions on responding to crashes and other calls with EV’s in Spring Hill yesterday. Engineer Ryan Hickey says the course includes details on suppressing lithium-ion battery fires and the proper protective equipment needed to deal with those situations. Emergency workers from Putnam County, Brentwood, and Columbia were among those who attended yesterday’s course.
Next month, Portland’s Knox Mason will join 80 other boys and girls, ages seven to 15, in the drive, chip, and putt competition in Augusta, Georgia, designed to inspire the next generation of golfers. As an elementary school student, Knox can drive the ball about 200 yards. The Drive, Chip, And Putt competition takes place Sunday, April 2 on the eve of the Masters tournament, airing live on the Golf Channel.
