The Springfield Board of Mayor and Aldermen honored Matthew and Rhonda Allen and Pat and Angela Looney as community heroes for saving the lives of Cheyenne Walter and Summer McIntosh. On Jan. 8, they were passing by the Springfield Greenway and observed two young girls struggling to escape from under a dam. Without hesitation, they assisted in getting both girls out of the water and saved their lives.
An adult-size changing table will be installed in a restroom at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center in Liberty Park in Clarksville by June 30th. It’s part of a new $1 million statewide grant program to assist Tennesseans needing help with daily living activities. Statistics about 200,000 Tennesseans — roughly 4% of the state’s population — need help with daily activities such as using the restroom.
Clarksville Police are asking for the public’s help in finding 27-year-old Dalton Lawrence. He’s accused of assaulted a 33-year-old man in the victim’s home then fleeing the scene. Officials said the assault was not a random act and both Lawrence and the victim were acquainted. Lawrence is a white 6′0″ tall and weighs around 195 pounds. He has brown hair and green eyes and officials say Lawrence should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who has information about Lawrence’s whereabouts is asked to call 911.
Twitter is rolling out a new policy to crackdown on violent speech. The social media’s new “Violent Speech Policy” says that users cannot “threaten, incite, glorify or express desire for violence or harm” while using the app. Twitter said most cases would result in a permanent suspension, but less severe ones cases may just be temporary.
