A freshman Congressman from Tennessee is facing allegations of misrepresenting his background. Republican Andy Ogles admitted this week he never received a degree in “International Relations” from Middle Tennessee State University, but actually a degree in “Liberal Studies.” Local NewsChannel 5 reports Ogles claimed he had a degree in international policy and economics while on the campaign trail and often referred to himself as an economist. He claimed he only learned of the discrepancy last week after requesting an official copy of his transcript. There are also reports on a wider range of misrepresentations by Ogles, including dubious claims he has law enforcement experience and has handled “international sex crimes.” The Republican has faced mounting pressure to resign for lying about his education, work history and other parts of his background.
