Bruce Morris Head, president of Stewart Williams Company, in Springfield has been indicted on one count of theft over $250,000, one count of money laundering, one count of tax evasion, and eight counts of sales tax fraud by the Robertson County Grand Jury. Head is accused filing false sales tax returns on behalf of Stewart Williams with the Tennessee Department of Revenue. If convicted, Head facing of 25 years in prison.

Clarksville authorities were called out to the scene of a wreck along Ft. Campbell Boulevard last night. Police says a vehicle was heading north in the southbound lanes of Ft. Campbell Boulevard when it hit a vehicle in front of Zaxbys, continued traveling in the wrong lanes, and crashed near the westbound on-ramp traffic light at the 101st Airborne Division Parkway intersection. At least one person has been hospitalized.

Springfield girls preparing for the prom might want to plan a trip to Nashville. Free prom dresses are being offered at Minerva’s Closet. It’s an annual one-day shop which offers dresses and accessories free of charge. It will be open on Saturday at the Martin Professional Development Center on Fairfax Avenue from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is the first time the event has been held since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Gently used dresses can be donated at the same location on Friday.

The Department of Energy has concluded that the COVID-19 pandemic likely came from a laboratory leak in China. It adds that the department made the assessment with “low confidence.” U.S. government agencies have been divided over whether the health emergency began in China as the result of a lab leak or whether it emerged naturally. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan says there’s still no “definitive answer” on the origins of covid.

The long-running comic strip “Dilbert” is being dropped from multiple newspapers following racist comments by creator Scott Adams. Publications under the USA Today and Advance Local networks decided to drop the comic, which has been in publication for almost 35 years.
