A new development is coming to downtown Clarksville.  Ground was broken yesterday by both city and county leaders for the development called Riverview Square.  A 156-room hotel is being built along with 55-thousand square feet of retail and entertainment space.  Construction is expected to be complete by the end of this year and it is projected to open at some point in 2024.

Governor Bill Lee will deliver his State of the State address next month.  The governor announced today that the address will be February 6th at 6 p.m.  The General Assembly will welcome the governor to the House chamber at the State Capitol.  Lee says the state’s best days are ahead.

Tennessee is one of 20 states suing the Biden Administration to block an immigration parole program. It was filed this week and aims to stop the program which allows up to 30-thousand qualifying migrants into the U.S. every month.  The lawsuit claims many migrants wouldn’t otherwise qualify for entry visas, so granting them entry is a violation.

Nicole Kidman is filming a movie in Nashville and extras are needed.  It’s a thriller movie called “Holland, Michigan” staring the Australian actress.  No experience is necessary to be an extra and the movie is looking for anyone between the ages of three and 75. Filming will take place in the next few months and more information is available by contacting Jenny Alison Casting.

Americans are becoming more disgruntled at work.  That’s according to a new Gallup poll, which averaged results across 2022.  It showed that less than a third of employees said they were “actively engaged” at work, or feeling passionate about their jobs.  That number is about a four-percent drop from a high of 36-percent in 2020.  Meantime, 18-percent of employees said they were “actively disengaged, ” the highest that number has been since 2013.  Gallup has been tracing employee engagement for more than 20 years.
