There will be a Special Called Meeting of the Cedar Hill City Commission to Discuss and Possibly Take action on hiring a City Manager and to decide on their monthly salary. The meeting will tomorrow night at the Club House by City Hall on S. Main Street, in Cedar Hill.
Officials are identifying a man found dead in Center Hill Lake, in Putnam County, yesterday. Authorities report the body of 40-year-old Spencer Harville was discovered by two TWRA agents conducting training near a boat ramp. His remains have been sent to the state medical examiner’s office to determine an official cause of death. Anyone who had spoken with Harville over the last several days is asked to contact the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.
The Robertson County School Board has recognized 15 students who participated in a Model United Nations in Murfreesboro in November. The Model United Nations program, sponsored by the YMCA Tennessee Center for Civic Engagement, hosted over 800 middle school and 900 high school students from public, private, and magnet schools across the state. The Robertson County students were part of RISE, a program designed for intellectually gifted students in the county.
Starbucks is expanding delivering across the United States. The company is announcing a partnership with DoorDash to bring drinks and treats directly to customers’ homes. Starbucks officials say 95 percent of items offered in stores will be available for order, including customizable beverages. Delivery of coffee and bakery products is expected nationwide by this March.
The City of Springfield has officially broken ground on the William A. Batson Parkway extension. The extension, which is Phase 2 of the Batson Parkway project, will connect Highway 41 South, near Experiment Station Road, to Tom Austin Highway and the Walling Road intersection, providing commuters a bypass of southern Springfield. Currently, the William A. Batson Parkway connects Tom Austin Highway to Backpatch Drive and New Cut Road.
