Parts of Middle Tennessee are dealing with a winter weather advisory today.  Schools are closed in Cannon, Clay, Cumberland, DeKalb, Jackson, Putnam, Smith, Warren, and White counties this morning.  Accumulating snow and slick road conditions are possible, especially across the Cumberland Plateau.  The advisory runs until 6:00 o’clock tomorrow morning.. Robertson County schools are open.

Police in Clarksville say a stabbing suspect is in custody following a barricade situation yesterday.  Authorities report 37-year-old Marshall Reed surrendered just before 2:30 p.m. after locking himself inside his Chateauroux Drive residence for over an hour.  An arrest warrant had been issued for Reed after he allegedly stabbed someone following a dispute on December 22nd.  Crisis officers were called in to negotiate with Ree

Tennessee’s foster kids have to move homes more than in any other state.  That’s according to a new report from the Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth.  The report says over a third of children in the Volunteer State’s foster care system in 2020 were placed in three or more homes during their first year in custody.  Officials say kids can blame themselves when they leave a home, giving them the impression there is something wrong with them and that no one wants them.  There are almost nine-thousand kids in the care of Tennessee’s Department of Children’s Services.

Sky gazers are beginning to get a look an object not seen from Earth for over 50-thousand years.  A green comet is showing up in the night sky over the next few weeks.  Kayla Waugaman with the Carnegie Science Center says the green hue the object puts off is caused by certain compounds reacting with light and radiation as it nears the sun.  The object will make its closest approach to the Earth on February first and second.
