Family members say a Robertson County teen is still in critical condition after slipping into a creek Sunday afternoon.  Loved ones are asking for prayers for 17-year-old Cheyanne Walters as she remains hospitalized at Centennial Children’s.  EMS officials say she was trying to remove a soccer ball and trash from a low-level dam area near the Robertson County Fairgrounds when she fell in the water, dragged under from current caused by the creek flowing over the dam.  Cheyanne’s 16-year-old friend jumped in to try and save her but was not able to pull her out on her own, with a nearby couple and an off-duty police officer credited with getting both girls to safety.

A Tennessee Congressman will serve as chairman of the House committee on Homeland Security.  Republican Mark Green will take over the position that focuses on border security, cybersecurity, counterterrorism, emergency preparedness and more.

The Robertson County Sheriff’s Office recently issued a warning against potential voicemail scams. They say the scammers are leaving voicemails telling their victims they have a warrant out for their arrest, that can be dismissed over the phone with a payment.  The department has stressed to local residents that these calls are scams. The Sheriff’s Office will never call demanding money.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission is reminding parents of a recall on infant sleepers that have led to around one-hundred deaths.  CPSC officials made the announcement yesterday, reiterating the dangers of all models of the Fisher-Price Rock ‘n Play Sleepers and Kids2 Rocking Sleepers.  The initial recall was made four years ago, but additional infant deaths have been connected to the items since.  Federal regulators have banned all infant sleep products with an incline of more than ten degrees, adding that sales of recalled products are illegal, including those on the used reseller market.
