Police in Springfield are investigating after two teens discovered a body near the Robertson County Fairgrounds yesterday. The grisly discovery was at an abandoned pumping station close to the intersection of East First Avenue and Memorial Drive around 5:00 p.m. Officials are reporting the male individual appears to have been deceased for some time. Springfield Police Chief Jason Head says no evidence of foul play has been found so far and there is no apparent danger to the community.
CVS and Walgreens are limiting purchases of some children’s pain relievers and fever reducing medication. Manufacturers are reporting increased demand and short supplies of the products nationwide. Respiratory illnesses have been rampant in young kids so far this season, with the CDC reporting four out of every one-thousand U.S. children under five-years-old being admitted to hospitals with RSV. Anita Brinkman with the Consumer Healthcare Products Association says sales of over-the-counter pain and fever drugs for kids are up 65 percent compared with this time last year.
Authorities in Cheatham County are reporting an uptick in overdose deaths for this year. Health officials say 20 people have died in the drug-related incidents in 2022, topping the number recorded last year. Chris McClellan with the Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office says he is finding that most of those deaths are related to substances laced with fentanyl. Seven of those overdose deaths have happened over the last month, according to officials.
