Community members in Mayfield, Kentucky are remembering the dozens of lives lost in a devastating tornado last December. Residents gathered for a memorial walk on Saturday, the one-year anniversary of the EF4 twister that leveled a portion of the town. The group traveled from the site of a candle factory where nine people perished to Downtown Mayfield in a show of support for those who didn’t survive the disaster. Mayfield was one of the communities hardest-hit by last year’s storms, which also affected areas of West and Middle Tennessee.
Officials with AirBNB say they are putting restrictions in place in an effort to crack down on disruptive New Year’s Eve parties. The company is blocking one-night rentals for some users in the U.S. and ten other countries. Accounts with no positive history are the most likely to be barred from booking on the 31st, according to the firm. They say a similar effort last year led to a 56 percent reduction in reported New Year’s Eve party incidents.
