Tomorrow is the day a lot of neighbors will be having their Christmas Parades.  The City of White House and White House Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a superhero themed Christmas parade.  It will feature floats and entries from individuals, local businesses, schools and churches. Awards will be given for the top three entries as determined by a panel of judges selected by the White House Parks and Recreation Department.

Greenbrier is hosting its annual Christmas In the Park tomorrow at Louise Martin Park from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. You’ll find plenty of retail vendors, food trucks, Christmas games, activities for kids, and Santa, followed by Greenbrier’s Christmas parade at 6 p.m.

The city of Adams will have its “Tinsel and Tobacco” Christmas Parade at 3 tomorrow afternoon. A tree lighting ceremony with the parade’s Grand Marshal and parade float awards will take place directly after the parade at the Omer Gene Brooksher Pavilion.

Cross Plains will also be getting into the holiday spirit tomorrow with their “Christmas in Cross Plains” event. It starts at 7AM with a pancake breakfast at city hall. Shopping with several vendors located at the city’s four-way stop on Highway 25 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  A parade will begin at 10 a.m. followed by music, tours at the Doctor’s House Museum & Library and a car show at the grass lot next to Terry’s Market.

On Dec. 10, the City of Millersville is having an Ugly Sweater Christmas Parade, complete with an ugly sweater contest and followed with a movie and popcorn at the Millersville Community Center.  Beginning at 1:00 that afternoon Louisville Highway will be shut down from Pole Hill Road to Long Dr. for the parade.

And if you’re on Social Security, consider this a New Year’s gift —  an 8.7% cost-of-living adjustment. That’s the largest increase in 40 years. Also, the monthly Medicare Part B premiums are declining next year, to $164.90/month from $170.10/month, which will also modestly boost Social Security checks for those enrolled in Part B, as these premiums are automatically deducted.
