A South Korean company is investing billions in Tennessee. Governor Bill Lee yesterday called the three-point-two-billion-dollar investment from LG Chem the “largest single foreign-direct investment in the state’s history.” The company is building a plant in Montgomery County, with construction starting next year. The plant will develop batteries for electric vehicles. The governor said around a thousand jobs will be created as a result. Officials with LG Chem hope to begin mass production by the end of 2025.
Some school districts in Middle Tennessee are closed today due to high numbers of absences caused by illness. Classes at all Robertson County Schools are cancelled but daycares are operating normally. Officials are closing Cheatham County School District as well, with their daycares also running as usual. Cheatham County schools are closed the remainder of this week for the Thanksgiving holiday and will resume classes on Monday.
A bill is being proposed to ban COVID restrictions in Tennessee. The state’s Senate Majority Leader Jack Johnson has filed for the new piece of legislation that looks to create a permanent ban on restrictions surrounding the virus. Johnson’s bill would create strict parameters on mask mandates, protect people against COVID-related lawsuits and prohibit vaccine requirements for employees. The proposal will head to the General Assembly when the next legislative session starts in January.
The Cedar Hill Family and Community Education Club is asking for help in giving children of Robertson County a Christmas. Choose an angel from a tree on display at the Gallery Hair Design, the Bank of America or the Robertson County Historical Museum and provide gifts for them. Unwrapped gifts should be returned to the place you got your angel by Dec. 6th. Please include wrapping paper, tags, and bows.
