Governor Bill Lee says Tennessee will not follow the CDC’s recent COVID-19 vaccine recommendations.  A group of vaccine experts yesterday said COVID-19 shots should be included in lists of recommended vaccines for both kids and adults.  The CDC accepted the advice and is now encouraging states to add the vaccine to mandatory school lists alongside the likes of polio and measles.  The governor took to Twitter after the announcement to say he believes mandates are wrong and added Tennessee families will not be impacted by the decision.  The CDC cannot force states to add the COVID vaccine to its mandatory lists.  They can only recommend it.

A teen is facing a list of felony charges in connection with a January carjacking in Cheatham County.  Earlier this week, a judge approved an order to try now-18-year-old Bryan Reid as an adult in Circuit Court.  Prosecutors say Reid and a 15-year-old escaped from a Nashville DCS facility and later forced a woman out of her vehicle, taking off with her four-year-old child still in the car.  He is charged with aggravated assault, aggravated kidnapping and 12 other counts, with a court hearing scheduled for November seventh.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is projecting a continued drought for parts of Tennessee this winter.  The organization’s winter outlook indicates the state’s current abnormally dry conditions are likely to continue.  Areas in the southern U.S., including the edge of East Tennessee, are expected to see above normal winter temperatures.  NOAA points to the La Nina climate pattern for the weather shifts in the United States.
