Police in Gallatin are searching for a man they say fired nearly a dozen rounds in a recent drive-by shooting.  Authorities say 21-year-old Samuel Williams nearly hit a man and a four-year-old child at an intersection before opening fire at a home last Friday evening.  Police say Williams knew the intended target of the shots, but no one was injured in the incident.  Investigators believe Williams lives in the Hendersonville area, and anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Gallatin police.

Officials at Cumberland University are cancelling Saturday’s football game following the death of a player.  Twenty-two-year-old Marcus Webb, of Lebanon, was killed in a car accident last weekend, with four other students injured.  School spokesperson Joey Clark says the decision was made to cancel the contest to allow teammates and the campus community to grieve.  Cumberland was scheduled to take on Reinhardt University in Waleska, Georgia.

Shipping giant UPS is adding hundreds of seasonal workers in Nashville ahead of the busy holidays.  The company says 15-hundred employees will be hired at the Middle Tennessee operation, including drivers and package handlers.  UPS officials say around 80 percent of the seasonal positions do not require an interview.  Company leaders have streamlined the hiring process, providing job offers following the completion of online applications.

The NFL season starts today but the Titans don’t play until Sunday.  Tonight’s matchup between the Buffalo Bills and the Los Angeles Rams marks the long-awaited start of the road to Super Bowl 52.  The Titans get their campaign started on Sunday when they host the New York Giants.  Kickoff is at 4:25 p.m. Eastern Time in Nashville and the home side are slight favorites heading into the game.
