All City of Springfield offices will be closed Monday, September 5, 2022, in observance of Labor Day. Residents that normally receive garbage collection on Monday will have their cart collected on Wednesday, September 7. Carts must be curbside by 5:30 a.m. to avoid being missed.
Two people are dead, and one in custody, following a shooting in Hendersonville. Officers responded to the scene on Cavalier Drive around 3:30 p.m. yesterday, and found 60-year-old Laura Undis and 67-year-old Deidre Sheen suffering from gunshot wounds in the front yard of the property. Bystanders detained 72-year-old Lloyd Martin Junior who is accused of the shooting. Investigators say Martin shot the women following an argument.
Hankook Tires is planning a huge investment and expansion of its plant in Clarksville. The company is expected to commit one-point-six-billion dollars to create a state-of-the-art facility and add 12-hundred new jobs during three phases of the expansion. Company officials say the investment demonstrates Hankook’s growing presence in the U.S. and its commitment to serving its customers.
If you are headed on the road this Labor Day weekend the State Department of Transportation is trying to make it a little easier for drivers. TDOT will pause lane closures for the weekend from 6 a.m. on Friday to 6 a.m. on Tuesday. There will be workers on site in many areas so officials urge drivers to maintain the proper speed limit through construction zones. Speeding in a work zone can result in a fine between 250 and 500 dollars.
The Robertson County Commission recently approved a resolution updating the towers for its emergency radio system. Most of the funds will be coming from the federal government’s American Rescue Plan Act for the upcoming 2022-23 fiscal year. The state auditor is requiring the county to put these funds on the books, which will be used for emergency radios, as well as parking lot renovations and other general operating transfers.
