Nolensville is finishing their run in the Little League World Series by taking fourth place. The team fell to Chinese Taipei in the third place consolation game yesterday. They are returning home with an overall record of four and three in the tournament. They were presented with the Jack Losch Sportsmanship Award. The winner of the honor is chosen by vote to recognize a team who shows respect and character during each year’s series.
Officials are reporting record-breaking attendance for this year’s Wilson County and Tennessee State Fair. Organizers say more than seven-hundred-75-thousand people visited the event, breaking a record set in 2013 by almost one-hundred-90-thousand. Individuals from 26 U.S. states and 16 countries came to Lebanon for the fair. The gathering is the 16th-largest state fair in the U.S.
The Tennessee Municipal League presented the City of Springfield with an award for Excellence in Parks and Recreation. The award was in recognition of their ongoing efforts made to provide diverse parks and recreation opportunities to its citizens. Springfield has five parks that provide access to recreation for all areas of the community with each park within three miles of downtown Springfield’s courthouse square. Three of the city’s parks are connected by the Springfield Greenway, which also connects to the square, as well as several neighborhoods, the city recreation center, and two schools.
