Nolensville is down to their last life at the Little League World Series. The team lost to Honolulu, Hawaii 13-nothing yesterday, setting up an elimination game tonight against Pearland, Texas. If Nolensville wins, they will get a rematch against Honolulu for the United States Championship.

A Mount Juliet police officer is off the job for allegedly assaulting a female acquaintance while off duty.  Authorities say Officer Michael Dyce has been decommissioned after serving with the department since February of 2020.  WZTV-TV reports Dyce was providing private security at a Nashville event on July fourth when the incident occurred.  TBI and the Metro Police Department are investigating.

A Millersville father is in custody, accused of severely injuring his two-month-old daughter.  Authorities say 25-year-old Charles Smotherman is charged with aggravated child abuse.  Police and emergency medical personnel were called to Smotherman’s apartment Monday where they found the baby lying face-down, having trouble breathing.  Vanderbilt doctors say the infant is suffering from multiple bone fractures, including some older ones that have not been cared for, and bleeding on the brain.

The life expectancy for Tennesseans is among the lowest in the country.  The CDC released new data this week concerning life expectancy in each state.  According to 2020 statistics the life expectancy in Tennessee is 77 years for women and just under 71 years for men.  Overall the average of just under 74 years is the sixth lowest in the country.  Hawaii has the longest average life expectancy at nearly 81 years and Mississippi the lowest life expectancy at 72 years.
