Authorities in Clarksville are searching for a 17-year-old carjacking suspect after he escaped DCS custody last month. Police say Labron Dewayne Gibson was able to get out of a transport van on July 22nd. Investigators believe Gibson was involved in a carjacking outside the Waffle House along North Riverside Drive on August 14th. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Clarksville Montgomery County Crime Stoppers.
A man is still alive although a bit shaken after experiencing a mishap on a ride at the Tennessee State Fair underway in Lebanon. Thursday Eric Bain was on the Speed ride which has a high tower with two mounted arms that rotate to flip riders on each end head over feet. Bain says a loose piece of plexiglass severed a metal pole near his head. He said he got pelted by some loose nuts and bolts, but otherwise he wasn’t badly injured other than the mental anguish he is suffering after nearly losing his life.
A Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency officer from Lebanon is to receive special recognition. TWRA District 21’s Hunter Daniels has been selected from a field of eight officers as TWRA Officer of the Year. Officer Daniels will represent Tennessee at the Southeast Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies’ 76th Annual Conference awards ceremony this October 23-26 at the Charleston Marriott Town Center in West Virginia. TWRA Boating and Law Enforcement Division’s Colonel Darren Rider says this year Officer Daniels “really excelled in all aspects of his job.” The SEAFWA is comprised of wildlife agencies from 15 member states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Nolensville is continuing their undefeated run in the Little League World Series. The team took down Indiana yesterday with a score of five runs to two. They will now face the team representing the West region on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. The tournament runs through August 28th.
The Robertson County Historical Society is gearing up for “The Last Days of Frank & Jesse James Festival” Aug. 27th. An old, Wild West bank robbery reenactment on the Springfield courthouse square is the highlight of the event. The festival, which is in its second year, celebrates the 36th Anniversary of the 1986 film, The Last Days of Frank & Jesse James, in which several scenes were “filmed in and around the Robertson County Courthouse and Orlinda.
