A grant is providing free health care for some public employees in Robertson County. Workers with Robertson County offices and schools, and the City of Springfield, can visit their own dedicated clinic at no charge. Employees say check-ups and prescription refills are easy, with doctors able to serve patients in around 15 minutes. Robertson County Mayor Billy Vogle says he hopes the benefit will help draw workers to the area..
No injuries are reported after an accident involving a gasoline tanker yesterday evening. The truck overturned along White Creek Pike in northern Davidson County. Multiple police, fire, and HAZMAT crews responded to the scene, as the truck was carrying more than four-thousand gallons of fuel. Workers were able to offload some of the gasoline into another trailer.
Leaders in Montgomery County are considering a transition to a paid fire service. With the exception of the City of Clarksville, the area relies on volunteers. County Volunteer Chief Ed Baggett says some halls are now seeing more then eight-hundred calls per year, exceeding what volunteer staffing is typically able to handle. Outgoing County Mayor Jim Durrett says a fire tax district, and at least partially-paid fire service, would be valuable for citizens of the quickly-growing area.
Three men have been indicted for trying to steal firearms from licensed federal dealers. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, 22-year-old Tyler Cunningham, 36-year-old Ryan Dillard and 23-year-old Corey Summers, all of Nashville, stole a truck from a repair shop in Middle Tennessee. They then broke into Greenbrier and Woodbury firearms dealer locations, stealing nearly 40 guns which they then tried to sell. Dillard and Cunningham are facing several charges while authorities continue to search for Summers.
