Voting is now open to select a winner in the ‘Tennessee’s Best-Looking Cruiser’ contest. The state’s Highway Safety Office is announcing the vote as part of their annual Law Enforcement Challenge. Residents can visit T-N-traffic-safety-dot-org before August third to select their favorite police vehicle. The winner will be announced at the Law Enforcement Challenge on August 19th.
The sheriff of Hickman County is recovering from an injury suffered while touring Dunbar Cave in the Midstate. Sheriff Randal Ward fell and hit his head at the cave today. He was taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville for treatment. His injury did require stitches after which he was released.
Seven Tennessee counties are in the “high” category for COVID-19. CDC data says it means that 200 new coronavirus cases have been reported per 100-thousand people in the last seven days. Health officials say people in these counties should mask up again and take precautions. The counties are Benton, Davidson, Decatur, Henry, Hickman, Humphreys and Robertson.
Hundreds of kids and teens are entering USA Mullet Championships this year. The nationwide online competition will crown a kid and a teen who has the best “business-in-the-front, party-in-the-back” look for the third year running. Voting is done through likes and reactions on the contest’s Facebook page. The winner in the teen division gets one-thousand dollars and the kids winner takes home two-thousand-500 dollars.
