Springfield’s First Friday Night Market is back tonight from 6-9 p.m and is free to the public. The popular festival-style event will occur on the first Friday of each month from May through October at the historic downtown square in Springfield. Hosted by the Historic Springfield Event Coordinators and the City’s Parks and Recreation Department, First Friday Night feature live music, food trucks, a farmers’ market, a classic car cruise-in, and a kid’s zone. More than 70 different vendors will be in attendance, ranging from artisans, bakers, crafters, and farmers, as well as several other local merchants and businesses.
All of Tennessee’s Driver Services Centers are operating again. Driver Services Centers were down statewide yesterday. Driver license transactions weren’t able to be completed during the outage. Many services can be taken care of online.
Governor Bill Lee wants to prevent abortion pills from being received through the mail. Governor Lee signed legislation yesterday criminalizing receiving the pills through a mail delivery service. The law will make it a Class-E felony with the potential for a fine and doesn’t criminalize a doctor for providing an abortion pill to a pregnant woman. Prior to being amended, it included up to a potential 20-year prison sentence.
A Williamson County amphitheater is taking steps to alleviate traffic during big events. Long lines of traffic have been reported at First Bank Amphitheater, frustrating concert-goers, and upsetting neighbors living in the area. According to the venue’s CEO, they are getting ready to start construction to help alleviate traffic problems and congestion.
