The White House Board of Mayor and Aldermen has approved a $24 million bond for a new two-story recreation center.  It will be approximately 70,800 square feet and will be located on the same complex as the newly built Community Center/City Hall and Public Library at the corner of Hwy 31W and College Street.

One of the deadliest interstates in the country runs through Middle Tennessee.  The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says I-40 is the third deadliest.  It averaged nearly eleven deaths per 100 miles in 2020 and 270 overall.  I-40 passes through Humphreys, Hickman, Dickson, Williamson, Cheatham, Davidson, Wilson, Smith, and Putnam counties.

Three commencement ceremonies to honor the Austin Peay State University’s Spring 2022 graduates are tomorrow.  At 9 a.m. undergraduate degree candidates from the College of Business and the College of Behavioral and Health Sciences will receive their degrees.   At 1 p.m. in the Dunn Center undergraduate degree candidates in the College of Arts and Letters, the College of STEM, and the Eriksson College of Education, as well as anyone earning a Bachelor of Science in General Studies or an Associate of Science in Liberal Arts will graduate.  Then, at 4 PM the University will celebrate all graduate students, earning a master’s degree or above.

The Tennessee Department of Health is out with its weekly COVID-19 update.  TDH says there were nearly 520 cases per day last week.  There were also an average of three COVID-related deaths per day between April 24th and the 30th.  There have been over two-million-31-thousand COVID cases in Tennessee since the outbreak began with over 26-thousand COVID-related deaths.

Dolly Parton has been inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.  The country music legend had previously said she didn’t earn the right to be nominated but later agreed to accept if she was voted in.  The 37th annual induction ceremony will be held in November.
