A new ordinance allowing one-day permits for mobile food service vehicles is being considered by the Springfield Board of Mayor and Alderman. That would allow more food trucks to make the trip to Springfield, for festivals, events, or be hosted by other private businesses. The city raised the cost of a special permit for food trucks to $250 a year recently and that has caused concerns from some local businesses who say it is getting harder for them to bring up those food trucks that may only come once a year.
Three commencement ceremonies to honor the Austin Peay State University’s Spring 2022 graduates are on the schedule for May 6th. At 9 a.m. in the Dunn Center, will celebrate the undergraduate degree candidates from the College of Business and the College of Behavioral and Health Sciences. At 1 p.m. in the Dunn Center undergraduate degree candidates in the College of Arts and Letters, the College of STEM, and the Eriksson College of Education, as well as anyone earning a Bachelor of Science in General Studies or an Associate of Science in Liberal Arts will graduate. Then, at 4 PM the University will celebrate all graduate students, earning a master’s degree or above.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol says a man is facing charges after running into a Lebanon police cruiser yesterday morning. Authorities say Jesus Ortega crashed into the vehicle around 6:30 a.m. as an officer was stopped assisting a disabled tractor-trailer on Interstate 40. The officer was reportedly inside the vehicle at the time of the accident and treated for minor injuries at a nearby hospital. Ortega was arrested for driving on a revoked license.
The Judds are members of the Country Music Hall of Fame. The mother-daughter duo was inducted last night, a day after Naomi Judd died. Wynonna and older sister Ashley said they lost their mother to “the disease of mental illness.”
