A report by the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta says homeownership in most Middle Tennessee counties is now unaffordable.  The report notes home prices in Nashville have risen by 24 percent over the last year and are now among the highest in the country.  The study shows the median income for homeowners is 64-thousand-500 dollars. The average price for a home is more than 380-thousand dollars.

A traveler’s advisory: Following a judge’s ruling, Nashville International Airport officials are no longer requiring masks for travelers.  Yesterday, a judge in Florida said the CDC does not have the authority to mandate masks for travelers.  The government is appealing the decision but airport officials say they will only encourage but not require masks on travelers.  Masks have been required on travelers since the beginning of the pandemic.

The owners of Mid Tenn Motorsports are looking to expand. Co-owner Eddie Collier says the company is eyeing 18 acres of property at the Golden Bear Gateway exit off Interstate 40 in Wilson County.  The motorcycle dealer is proposing a mixed-use development including an expanded property for their business and restaurant and retail space.  Collier says, if approved, the company could start construction in June.

The Springfield Police Department is partnering with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office to promote “Slow Down Tennessee.” Through April 29th, the Springfield Police Department will increase education, awareness, and enforcement efforts to help reduce speeding-related crashes, injuries, and fatalities statewide.

The Nashville Zoo is welcoming its youngest new resident.  A female Mexican spider monkey, Molly, has given birth to a baby boy.  Zoo officials say they plan to keep the new baby at the zoo and grow the “Spider Monkey: Treetop Passage” habitat that opened in 2017.  This is the first spider monkey to be born at the Nashville Zoo.
