The Tennessee Department of Health is out with its weekly COVID-19 update. TDH says there were over 300 cases per day last week. There were also an average of nearly 30 COVID-related deaths per day between March 13th and March 19th. There have been over two-million-18-thousand COVID cases in Tennessee since the outbreak began.
An Mt. Juliet High School student is facing weapon and drug-related charges. The 16-year-old student was arrested yesterday morning after a search of the student’s vehicle found a handgun, two knives, about 600-dollars in cash, drugs, and a ski mask. Authorities don’t believe the gun was inside the school yesterday. No students were threatened.
The Robertson County Players’ production of 12 Angry Jurors will begin its run at 7 p.m. this Friday and Saturday, Thursday, March 31, and Friday and Saturday, April 1st and 2nd at Springfield Middle School’s Historic Auditorium. The story was initially broadcast as a television play in 1954 under the title 12 Angry Men and was later adapted for the stage. Governor Bill Lee’s legislative overhaul of Tennessee’s school funding formula is advancing. The Senate Education Committee approved the bill yesterday after making major revisions, including giving the State Board of Education more authority to define what “unique learning needs” should get additional money. The Tennessee Investment in Student Achievement would provide over nine-billion dollars in state and local funds for education, including nearly two billion for students with specific needs.
