Incumbent General Sessions Judge Joel Perry will be seeking another 8-year term in the upcoming county elections.  He’ll face a challenge from Max Fagan. He served as Robertson County General Sessions Judge from 1998 to 2006. With no Democratic candidates in the race, the May primary between Perry and Fagan is expected to be one of the most contested races in the upcoming county election season.

Tennessee Speaker of the House Cameron Sexton is being subpoenaed to appear before a federal grand jury.  Speaker Sexton and about a dozen other House Republicans were served with grand jury subpoenas yesterday.  It’s part of an FBI investigation into corruption at the state Capitol.  Republican Rep. Robin Smith recently pleaded guilty to federal wire fraud charges in connection to a company that provided mailing services to Republican lawmakers.

The Robertson County Players’ production of 12 Angry Jurors will begin its run at 7 p.m. this Friday and Saturday, Thursday, March 31, and Friday and Saturday, April 1st and 2nd at Springfield Middle School’s Historic Auditorium.  The story was initially broadcast as a television play in 1954 under the title 12 Angry Men and was later adapted for the stage.  For more information about the production, go to www.robertsoncountyplayers.org.

A new report ranks Governor Bill Lee as one of the best governors in the country.  The 2021 Laffer-American Legislative Exchange Council Report on Economic Freedom assigns multiple rankings, subdivided into multiple metric categories.  It examines three main categories, including the execution of policy, economic performance, and fiscal policy.  The report ranks Governor Lee sixth, while South Dakota’s Kristi Noem is ranked first and former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is last.
