There are 75-thousand new trees in Tennessee. The trees were planted by volunteers in all 95 counties on Saturday. It was part of Tree Day in Tennessee. The Tennessee Environmental Council says over 700-thousand trees have been planted by 60-thousand Tennesseans since Tennessee Tree Day officially began in 2007.
Tiffany Summers has been hired as the director of Financial Aid at Volunteer State Community College. She had been senior director of Financial Aid at Lipscomb University in Nashville for nine years. Summers has worked in educational financial aid for eighteen years. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Public Administration from Harding University in Arkansas and a Master’s in Business Administration from Lipscomb University.
Enrollment is declining in Tennessee’s colleges and universities. The Tennessee Board of Regents reports total undergraduate enrollment fell five percent in the fall of 2020. The Tennessee Higher Education Commission also says the total number of people going to college in the state dropped from nearly 62 percent for the Class of 2019 to less than 57 percent for the Class of 2020. Those numbers represent the share of public high school graduates enrolling in postsecondary education in the summer or fall immediately after high school.

Who doesn’t love Dolly Parton is still being considered for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame even after saying she’s not worthy of it. Officials at the hall say Rock & Roll has had deep roots in Rhythm & Blues and Country Music and is not defined by any one genre. Parton is one of 16 artists nominated for the class of 2022.
