Of the state’s top-ten highest-earning counties, several are in the Mid-State, two are in West Tennessee and one is in East Tennessee.  Stacker used data from the U.S. Census Bureau to compile its list.  The rankings were based on 2019 five-year estimated median household income.  Williamson, Wilson, Rutherford, Sumner, Robertson, and Cheatham counties make up the top six with number nine Davidson County the other Middle Tennessee county on the list.  Tipton County is ranked seventh and Fayette County is eighth, while Loudon County is the only East Tennessee county on the list at number ten.

Governor Bill Lee’s request for a major disaster declaration is being approved.  President Biden approved the request on Friday after West and Middle Tennessee were hit with severe winter weather last month.  Governor Lee previously said the goal is to ease the unexpected financial burden the emergency left behind in parts of the state.

A state representative says he’ll introduce a biological father bill this week.  Representative Antonio Parkinson says currently, any man can sign a birth certificate saying he’s the father and it would be accepted as evidence of paternity in child support cases.  Representative Parkinson’s bill would require a DNA test to validate the birth certificate.  He says a child deserves to know the identity of its biological father.

Eight families are displaced from their homes after a Saturday night apartment fire in Clarksville.  Fire crews responded to the Avondale Park Apartments and found residents had already evacuated the building.  No injuries were reported in the blaze.  The Red Cross is assisting residents.

A Middle Tennessee startup is the winner of the first Hackathon in Tennessee.  Amazon Nashville hosted an event that challenged participants to create technology to support women in the workforce.  Local company Viro won the five-hundred-dollar grand prize for a lifestyle tracker app.
