Tennessee is rapidly approaching its all-time record price for gas.  Yesterday, Triple-A reported the statewide average was four dollars and five cents per gallon.  That’s just seven cents away from breaking the record set in 2008.  Industry experts say the record will be broken later this year.

The Tennessee Department of Health is out with its weekly COVID-19 update.  TDH says there were over 970 cases per day last week.  There were also an average of over 30 COVID-related deaths per day between February 27th and March 5th.  There have been over two-million-13-thousand COVID cases in Tennessee since the outbreak began.

Tennessee law enforcement officers are trying to make the I-65 corridor safer from Alabama to the Kentucky line.  They launched Operation Impact 65 on Sunday.  State traffic records show there were nearly 20 deaths, over 900 crashes, and more than 400 property damage crashes along the I-65 corridor last year.  The Tennessee Department of Homeland Security says 45 officers stopped hundreds of cars, issuing over 280 tickets.

Kim Reid was elected to fill the vacant county commission seat that her father Don Eden held.  Eden had served as commissioner for 12 years until his passing in January. Reid was unanimously appointed by the commission to fill Eden’s seat for the remainder of his term.  Kim Reid he will only be serving out the rest of her father’s term which expires at the end of the year and will not be running for re-election in the upcoming primaries.
