Severe weather is possible in the Mid-State today.  The National Weather Service in Nashville says there’s a slight risk of severe storms across nearly all of Middle Tennessee today and this evening.  Forecasters say the main risk is from damaging straight-line winds.

The TBI is investigating the discovery of human remains in Cheatham County.  The Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office says the remains were found by kids in a heavily wooded area, behind a cul-de-sac in Pleasant View.  The TBI and the Pleasant View Police Department are working together on the investigation.

There’s no end in sight for rising gas prices in Tennessee.  The average for a gallon of regular unleaded gas in Tennessee is over three-dollars-and-70 cents.  The cheapest gas is in Dunlap, Tennessee, near Chattanooga.  A Circle K there is selling gas for two-dollars-and-76-cents a gallon.

Tennessee is marking two years since COVID-19 hit the state.  The Tennessee Department of Health announced the first case of COVID in Tennessee on March 5th of 2020.  There have been over two-million cases and more than 24-thousand COVID-related deaths in Tennessee since the outbreak began.  Nearly 53 percent of eligible Tennesseans are fully vaccinated.

A Mount Juliet family is working to help the people of Ukraine.  Reverend Jerry Chalk and his family held a rally to raise money and collect donation items at the Charlie Daniels Community Center yesterday.  The Chalks spent 17 years conducting mission work in Ukraine before moving back to the U.S.  Reverend Chalk says he is excited to be able to help some people in Ukraine.

A popular attraction is returning to the Nashville Zoo for the first time in nearly a decade.  The DinoTrek exhibit will start its run at the Zoo on Friday.  It will run along a wooded trail and feature over 20 life-size animatronic dinosaurs.  The exhibit will be at the Nashville Zoo through July 31st.
