Governor Bill Lee is declaring today Arbor Day in Tennessee.  The day is meant to recognize the importance of planting and maintaining trees.  The state’s celebration is being held in Germantown in Shelby County.  The state’s forester says Germantown is being recognized as the Tennessee Tree City of the Year for its work maintaining tree canopy coverage.

A new league in Springfield is offering special needs kids across the Midstate an opportunity to play baseball this spring.  The Springfield Parks & Recreation Department says participants, led by volunteer coaches, will work to improve players’ skills in throwing, catching, and hitting, while learning to work as a team. Starting this month, teams will practice once a week. Regular season play will take place in April and May and consist of one game per week.

A convoy of truckers is expected to leave Lebanon for Washington, DC this morning.  They spent the last night at the Wilson County Fairgrounds.  Members of the American Freedom Convoy attended a rally at the James E. Ward Agricultural Center after arriving in Lebanon yesterday.  They’re heading to the nation’s capital to protest COVID mandates, immigration policies, inflation, rising gas prices, and other issues.

Attorney’s General from eight states including Tennessee are investigating TikTok and it’s impact on children especially when it comes to their mental health.  The investigation will look into the potential harm that TikTok causes and whether the social media platform knew about the harm caused among young users.  The investigation looks to determine if TikTok is violating the law in promoting its platform to young people.

An Ashland City man has been arrested after more than 100 sexual images of minors were found on his phone. During an investigation, 60-year-old David Friedrichs reportedly told authorities that he got the photos from people he talked to on social media.  He’s charged with the sexual exploitation of a minor.
