General Sessions Judge Joel Perry announced the launch of his re-election campaign for General Sessions Judge. He will seek the Republican nomination in the May primary. Perry has served for the last seven years in the position.  The Republican primary is Tuesday, May 3. The general election is Thursday, Aug. 4.

Tennessee is seeing an alarming trend so far this year.  Less than two months into the new year there have been eight officer-involved shootings in Tennessee.  That’s compared to six at the same time last year.  There was one by this time in 2020 and five in 2019.

State officials say Macy’s, Inc, will expand its current operations at the Portland facility in Robertson County, creating around 50 new jobs at their fulfillment center.  In the last five years, the state has supported nearly 10 economic development projects in Robertson County resulting in more than 1,300 job commitments and approximately $627 million in capital investment.

There may be a problem with Tennessee’s new license plates. Both the Department of Safety and Homeland Security and the Department of Revenue are evaluating claims regarding how new plates interact with license plate readers at night.  There’s still no word whether the state would have to replace the plates already handed out if there is a problem with LPRs reading them.
