The Tennessee Department of Transportation prepared for a winter storm that will impact the state starting today through the end of the week. TDOT says it’s watching the forecast and is ready to treat roads if they start to get icy. The storm is expected to bring rain, sleet, and some snow. The areas most likely to have travel impacted are north and west of Nashville.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is looking into a police-involved shooting in Robertson County. Officials say the shooting happened just before 10:00 p.m. northwest of Portland near the Kentucky state line. TBI is confirming that officers from Simpson County, Kentucky were involved in the incident. No further information has been released.
Tennessee could get its eleventh official state song. State Senator Becky Duncan Massey filed a bill on Monday that would make Sevier County-native Dolly Parton’s My Tennessee Mountain Home an official state song. The companion House bill was filed yesterday. Last May, the General Assembly passed a bill naming Dolly’s rendition of Amazing Grace as the official state hymn.
A new study says Tennessee is among the most unhappy states in the nation. The study by sleep experts Amerisleep includes 17 factors, including mental health, income, sleep rates, and environment. Tennessee is third among the most unhappy states. Only Kentucky and West Virginia are higher among the least happy states.
