“The weather outside is frightful.” All state offices are closed today. Governor Bill Lee decided to close the offices due to hazardous snow conditions across the state. Employees are asked to work from home if possible. Online services are still available.
The National Weather Service is releasing unofficial snowfall totals from yesterday for several counties in the Nashville region. According to the NWS, Davidson County saw around six-point-three inches of snow while Sumner and Robertson each reported a whopping eight inches to lead the area. Other nearby counties saw significant totals with Wilson, Williamson, and Rutherford at six inches and Maury and Cheatham both at five inches.
The lanes heading east on I-40 near Lebanon are flowing again. Traffic was stopped there yesterday afternoon. The traffic jam was caused by several semi-trucks that couldn’t get up a hill. Some of the trucks rolled back and got stuck causing a backup of four to five miles.
One person is dead after a crash on Interstate 24 westbound during the winter storm Thursday. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office says the crash involved a commercial vehicle and happened on I-24 westbound near mile marker 16. No hazardous materials were involved.
A federal appeals court in Cincinnati has ruled that three states can keep a ban in place on President Biden’s vaccine mandate for federal contract workers. The three-judge panel ruled 2 to 1 to uphold the injunction issued by a judge in Louisville against the ban. The ruling on allowing the ban of the mandate affects only three states, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Ohio.
