There are 29-hundred new coronavirus cases in Tennessee. The Tennessee Department of Health reported the new cases yesterday, bringing the total since the outbreak began to more than one-million-357-thousand. 90 additional COVID-19-related deaths were also reported, with the total number standing at over 18-thousand. There are more than eleven hundred COVID-19 hospitalizations in Tennessee.
A man is facing charges after Nashville International Airport security found marijuana and other drugs in his car. Officials confirmed yesterday that 26-year-old Jarquin Gerardo Bustamante was taken into custody after officers approached his vehicle in BNA’s observation lot after it closed. Bustamante reportedly had glassy watery eyes and a green leafy substance on his lap when authorities confronted him. A search of Butamante’s car found 12 grams of pot, a loaded handgun, cash, and two dozen ecstasy pills.
Hendersonville Police are cracking down on local businesses that violate Tennessee’s tobacco and e-cigarettes laws. Officials released data from a recent sting where undercover agents used a volunteer under the age of 21 to attempt to purchase illegal products at eight area stores. Police say three of the stores sold vaping products to the volunteer, and a fourth sold them tobacco. The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department did a similar operation and had clerks illegally sell products at five out of ten stores.
Tech giant Google is releasing a list of the most-searched-for Christmas cookies in each state. According to data released by Google this week, the most searched-for cookie in Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Alabama were Christmas cookies made with fudge. Nearby Arkansas searched for sugar cookies while Mississippi looked for Christmas cookie ice cream. The most searched-for cookie among all states was Italian-style, followed by peppermint cookies and sugar cookies.
