There are over 900 new coronavirus cases in Tennessee.  The Tennessee Department of Health reported the new cases yesterday, bringing the total since the outbreak began to over one-million-327-thousand.  Nearly 50 additional COVID-19-related deaths were also reported, with the total number standing at nearly 17-thousand-500.  There are 870 COVID-19 hospitalizations in Tennessee.

Tennessee cities rank highly on a national list they may not want to be associated with.  The personal finance website WalletHub.com places three Tennessee cities among the top 40 on its Most Sinful Cities in America list.  The site ranked 180 cities across nearly 40 indicators of evil deeds, including violent crimes per capita, excessive drinking, and adult entertainment businesses per capita.  Memphis ranks tenth on the list, Knoxville is 30th and Nashville is 38th.

Memorial services are being set for country music legend Stonewall Jackson.  The longtime member of the Grand Ole Opry died at the age of 89 on Saturday after a long battle with dementia.  A visitation for Jackson will be held tomorrow and Thursday from 2 o’clock in the afternoon until 7 in the evening at Hickory Chapel on Nolensville Pike in Nashville.  A chapel service will follow the visitation on Thursday.

Robertson County residents who can’t get to TPAC for Nashville’s Nutcracker can see the performance at home.  Nashville’s Nutcracker will air on NewsChannel 5 on December 25 at noon and December 31 at 3 p.m. The performance will also air on NewsChannel 5+ at 7 p.m. on December 25 and December 31 and be available on-demand through the NewsChannel 5 app December 25–31.

The City of Springfield has received a report indicating an individual approached a homeowner and identified themselves as a Springfield Water Department employee. They asked to enter the home to check the water. This was a hoax. The City of Springfield reminds residents that any time city employees need to come to a person’s home or office they will always be wearing proper city-issued uniforms and identification and workers should arrive in a city-marked vehicle. If someone approaches a residence and says they are a city employee but do not have the proper credentials and are not in a city-marked vehicle, please contact the police immediately.
