Traveler’s advisory: Starting today, federal rules require all air passengers coming into the United States from Canada, Mexico, or other countries to provide a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than 24-hours before traveling. Those who have recovered from COVID-19 in the past 90-days are exempt from testing but must show proof of their recovery. Federal regulations also require face masks to be worn on all planes by anyone over the age of two until at least March 18th.
Robertson County musicians are mourning the death of the legendary performers. Grammy-winner Gary Scruggs was the eldest son of bluegrass legend Earl Scruggs and formed The Earl Scruggs Revue with his father after albums with his brother Randy as The Scruggs Brothers in the late 1960s. Gary went on to play guitar and sing backup for country music outlaw Waylon Jennings before writing or co-writing hundreds of songs. He died on December 1st. Gary Scruggs was 72.
Country music legend Stonewall Jackson died Saturday after fighting a long battle with dementia. Stonewall Jackson had a long string of hits in the 1960s and ’70s, including 44 singles that placed on the Billboard country charts. His biggest hit, “Waterloo,” was also a top-ten hit on the pop chart. Stonewall Jackson was 89.
The Robertson County Historical Society is trying something new this year with their always popular Christmas Tour of Homes event. Organizers say many businesses in historic downtown Springfield have had a challenging year so the Christmas Tour will focus on the businesses downtown and showcase the building’s history. The annual event is set for Sunday, December 12th.
The Clarksville city council voted Thursday night in support of decriminalization of simple possession of marijuana. The resolution passed 9-1 with three abstentions. The “no” vote came from Mayor Joe Pitts. The resolution will request Tennessee General Assembly to pass legislation to decriminalize simple possession or casual exchange of marijuana for personal use..
