The Robertson County Historical Society is trying something new this year with their always popular Christmas Tour of Homes event. Organizers say many businesses in historic downtown Springfield have had a challenging year so the Christmas Tour will focus on the businesses downtown and showcase the building’s history. The annual event is set for Sunday, December 12th.
There are nearly 22-hundred new coronavirus cases in Tennessee. The Tennessee Department of Health reported the new cases yesterday, bringing the total since the outbreak began to over one-million-316-thousand. More than 40 additional COVID-19-related deaths were also reported, with the total number standing at over 17-thousand. There are nearly 830 COVID-19 hospitalizations in Tennessee.
The man sentenced to death for the murder of a Dickson County Sheriff’s Office sergeant is being given some prison time. Steven Wiggins was sentenced on Monday for the non-capital crimes connected to the murder of Sergeant Daniel Baker in May of 2018. A judge sentenced Wiggins to 37 years for eight charges in addition to the death penalty. Wiggins was sentenced over the summer for murdering Sergeant Baker.
Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s Christmas on the Cumberland is underway. The 1,000,000 Christmas lights are a holiday tradition in Clarksville and are on display thru January 2nd, Monday – Thursday until 10:00 pm and weekend nights ’til 11:00 pm.
