As White House officials eye a December completion date for its Billy S. Hobbs Community Event Center, plans are also under way to construct a recreation center next door.  The two-story, 52,000-plus square-foot facility will be along the hill and down to what is presently a parking lot making it the final structure to define the Municipal Complex. There are over 41-hundred new coronavirus cases in Tennessee.  The Tennessee Department of Health reported the new cases yesterday, bringing the total since the outbreak began to over one-million-228-thousand.  An additional 50 COVID-19-related deaths were also reported, with the total number standing at more than  15-thousand.  There are over 25-hundred COVID-19 hospitalizations in Tennessee (Source TDOH)

The Tennessee Department of Transportation says the largest road project in state history is underway on I-65 north of Nashville.  TDOT says ground was broken yesterday on a project to widen I-65 from two to three lanes on both sides of the interstate from Long Hollow Pike in Davidson County to Sumner County, near the Kentucky border.  The first phase of the 160-million-dollar project will widen the interstate from State Route 25 in Cross Plains to State Route 109 in Portland.  TDOT says it will try to limit lane closures to nights and weekends. The City of Springfield will conduct its second of two planned city-wide junk collection pickups for 2021 beginning today through Friday, October 29.. The Tennessee River is a little cleaner thanks to hundreds of volunteers.  Keep the Tennessee River Beautiful says over 500 volunteers have removed more than 100-thousand pounds of trash from the river this year.  The group says it hopes to reach 125-thousand pounds by the end of the year.
