A Flash Flood Watch is being issued for most of Middle Tennessee.  The National Weather Service says Hurricane Ida will start dropping heavy rain west of I-65 tonight.  Forecasters say the rain will spread across the remainder of Middle Tennessee tomorrow before falling off later in the night.  Between two-to-five inches are expected to fall with severe weather possible.

A Tennessee-based company is supporting victims of historic flooding in Middle Tennessee.  Tractor Supply Company has donated 25-thousand dollars to the American Red Cross of Tennessee.  The money will be used to help flood victims in Humphreys, Hickman, Houston and Dickson counties recover from deadly flooding earlier this month.  More than 17 inches of rain fell on the area on Saturday, August 21st leading to the deaths of 20 people.

The Tennessee Department of Education will consider allowing a class or school to temporarily transition to remote learning.  TDOE Commissioner Dr. Penny Schwinn made the announcement in a letter sent to school system leaders on Friday.  Dr. Schwinn said the waivers allowing for a transition from in-person learning will be considered if necessary to allow students affected at the classroom or school level by COVID-19 to continue instruction online.  Schwinn said the waivers aren’t for entire districts and will be applied “narrowly.”

Tennessee Task Force Two is being deployed to Louisiana.  The Nashville Fire Department says the team will help with search and rescue efforts after Hurricane Ida made landfall in Louisiana yesterday.  Tennessee Task Force Two team members are from Nashville, Williamson County and Franklin.  The deployment is expected to last two weeks.
