Nearly 91-hundred school-age children in Tennessee have tested positive for the coronavirus in the last two weeks.  The state saw an increase of nearly 24-hundred cases in one week and 82-hundred cases in the last month.  Sixteen children are in intensive care units with eight on ventilators.  In total, 22-hundred Tennesseans are in hospitals statewide with COVID-19, with 661 in ICUs and 388 on ventilators.

Meanwhile, Tennesseans can opt their kids out of school mask mandates.  Governor Bill Lee signed an executive order yesterday giving parents the ability to opt their children out of mask requirements enacted by local school or health boards.  Governor Lee said yesterday that “local decision-making is important.”  However, he also said “individual decision-making by a parent on issues regarding the health and well-being of their child is the most important.”
