The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation has announced an $8 million loan for the City of White House to improve water infrastructure. The loan is one of eight approved by the Tennessee Local Development Authority totalling $15.7 million. The City of White House’s loan comes from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund Loan Program. The loan will address the wastewater treatment system and has a 20-year term at 1.09 percent interest.
Tennessee’s traditional sales tax holiday on clothing, school supplies and computers begins at 12:01 tomorrow morning and ends at 11:59 Sunday night. That’s when clothing, school supplies and computers may be purchased tax-free. Certain restrictions apply. More details at tn.gov.
The Mid-Cumberland Community Action Agency will be hosting a 2-day FREE food giveaway event in Robertson County set for Wednesday, August 4th and Thursday, August 5th from 9 am to 3 pm at Travis Price Park. Food will be given to all Robertson County residents in need.
There’s good news for the Clarksville area’s economy this year. Real estate company Stessa ranks Clarksville number nine among small and midsize metro areas for the most economic growth in 2021. Stessa based its rankings on the percentage change in total employment, the unemployment rate, average monthly building permits per capita, and the average monthly home sales per capita. Other similar-size areas on the list include Spartanburg, South Carolina, Lincoln, Nebraska and Gainesville, Florida.
Clarksville’s Manna Café Ministries is hosting a “Back to School Bash” at 10:00 Saturday morning on their parking lot on Providence Blvd. School supplies including clothes, backpacks, pencils, notebooks and more will be given away at no cost. There will also be music, games, food and much more. This event is free and open to all members of the community.
