As part of the 2021-22 fiscal year county budget, the Robertson County Historical Society will get $5,000. That will go towards the Robertson County History Museum in the old U.S. Federal Post Office Building in downtown Springfield.  The museum’s archival materials include documents, records, journals and other historical materials that date all the way back to before Robertson County was founded.

A driver in Springfield was taken into custody las night after he crashed his vehicle into a house on S Pawnee Dr. There were three people inside the home at the time of the crash including a ten-year-old child. Officials say it appears that the vehicle was on Brown St when the driver failed to negotiate a turn onto Pawnee Dr and crashed into the home but the accident is still under investigation. No one was injured.

The COVID-19 spike continues. There are nearly 820 new coronavirus cases in Tennessee.  The Tennessee Department of Health reported the new cases yesterday, bringing the total since the outbreak began to over 872-thousand-360.  An additional nine COVID-19-related deaths were also reported, with the total number of coronavirus-attributed deaths standing at nearly 12-thousand-630.  There are over 300 people with COVID-19 hospitalized in Tennessee. In Roberstson County there were 5 new cases which mke 56 active cases. Since the pandemic began 141 people have died from COVID 19 in Robertson County.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is warning Robertson Countians to  be on the lookout for bobcats.  Sightings are being reported across the state.  The TWRA says mother bobcats are busy this time of year catching food for their new litters.  Officials say as long as you keep your distance from the bobcats they shouldn’t bother you.

Robertson County has opened BlueCross Healthy Place at Woodlawn Park.  It features  a Community pavilion, age appropriate play areas for children, and fitness stations.  The County applied for the BlueCross Healthy Place grant, because of the positive impact a revitalized community space would have on the area.
