You’re invited to participate in Springfield’s Community Cleanup on Saturday, April 24th, from 9 a.m. to noon at various locations throughout the city. The Tennessee Valley Authority will provide all volunteer supplies including safety vests, bags, and gloves along with water to stay hydrated. Volunteering is easy and online at springfieldtn.gov.

The Springfield public works department has launched a new Adopt-A-Street Program.  Volunteers agree to adopt one-mile segments of a major or collector street and remove litter a minimum of four times per year for at least one year. In recognition of the litter removal efforts, the city will install a sign recognizing participants for their commitment to the program and community

Former Tennessee Titans star Eddie George is expected to be named the new head football coach at Tennessee State.  ESPN reports current Tigers coach Ron Reed’s departure is expected to be announced today, while George will be introduced as the new head coach tomorrow.  The former Ohio State Heisman Trophy winner doesn’t have much coaching experience.  However, it’s hoped his name will help the program elevate its recruiting.

Tomorrow will mark ten years since the kidnapping and killing of Holly Bobo.  Bobo was taken from her Darden home on April 13th of 2011.  Her partial remains were found in northern Decatur County more than four years later.  Eventually, three people were convicted of her murder.

A man accused of stealing two cars was caught trying to start another vehicle at a Robertson County home.  Jason R. Green is charged with theft of property $1,000-$2,500, theft of property $10,000-$60,000, carjacking, felony evading arrest and driving on suspended license. He may also face charges in Robertson County.
